Family Mosaic Appointed as Provider for Islington Square
Sager Group, in association with Cain Hoy, have announced its partnership with Family Mosaic, who will manage 94 affordable apartments at Islington Square of which 30 will be sold through Shared Ownership.
Transformation of the former North London Royal Mail centre
Islington Square, the transformation of the former North London Royal Mail centre just off Upper Street, obtained planning permission in two stages; in July 2007 and March 2012, with affordable accommodation making up 35% and 50% of residential apartments respectively, in line with the London Borough of Islington’s affordable housing policy at the time of application.
In total there will be 94 affordable homes delivered; 64 of which are classified as social-for-rent and the further 30 will be sold under Family Mosaic’s Shared Ownership scheme.
There will be a selection of one, two and three bedroom apartments, finished to a high standard, and these will be located in the outstanding new build element of the scheme, designed by award winning architects CZWG. This building is at the centre of the site and will face the central Covent-Garden style boulevard - Esther Anne Place.

The Islington Square development sits on a 4.5-acre site off Upper Street. The Islington Square development contains a mix of Edwardian and new build elements. The Edwardian elements, including the grand six storey Edwardian building, were originally built in 1904-1906 and designed by architect Jasper Wager, under the auspices of HM King Edward VII’s Public Buildings Department for the Post Master General’s Office.
Residents will benefit from access to landscaped external gardens, in addition to separate balconies to some apartments. Those living at Islington Square will have access on their doorstep to the wider leisure, retail and lifestyle facilities in the Islington Square development, which include a health club with swimming pool and gymnasium, Lounge Cinema and retail outlets, cafes and restaurants.
Work has begun on site and completion is expected towards the end of 2017.
