Family Mosaic and Peabody Merger Now Complete
Peabody and Family Mosaic have now merged. Family Mosaic is now a part of the Peabody Group although its subsidiary name will continue for a while. The new organisation, operating under the Peabody name , will provide 55,000 homes for 111,000 residents across London and the South East, making it one of the largest housing associations in the UK.
Built on shared values, the new Peabody will continue to invest in existing homes, ensuring that they meet the current and future needs of 21st century families. The merger will allow us to further improve the efficiency of our operations, from managing housing stock to providing care and support to the most vulnerable.
Looking to the future, we aim to play an important role in solving the housing crisis in London and the South East by building at least 2,500 homes a year. In July this year, we announced our strategic partnership with the GLA to start up to 6,000 affordable homes by 2021. This, along with our major 20,000-home regeneration project in Thamesmead, will firmly establish Peabody as one of the key contributors to the government's affordable housing pledge.
Commenting on the merger, new Peabody Chief Executive Brendan Sarsfield said: "We will put the most vulnerable first, building as many good quality homes for low-cost rent as we possibly can. We’ll create great places where people want to live. And we will help our people achieve all that they can in their lives through wide-ranging support and community programmes."
